Do you get the vig back when taking down a 4 or 10?

Here’s a question for the more seasoned craps players: if you buy a 4 or 10 and the house charges the vig upfront, do you get that vig refunded if you decide to take the bet down?

I’ve seen this handled differently across casinos, and it seems to come down to house rules. Logically speaking, the vig is paid for the privilege of having better odds on a buy bet, so it makes sense you wouldn’t get it back if you take the bet down before it’s resolved. However, I’ve encountered situations where certain casinos did refund it, albeit rarely.

Does anyone have insight or perhaps a definitive answer based on experience? Curious to hear if there’s a consistent standard or if it’s always up to the casino’s discretion.

Looking forward to the discussion.

In my experience, most casinos don’t refund the vig if you take the bet down. The logic is that you’ve already ‘paid’ for the better odds, whether you use them or not.
