Are Aussie casinos tricking us with “No Commission” Baccarat?

So I was at Crown Melbourne the other night, just winding down after a long day. Figured I’d have a go at Baccarat, and I noticed heaps of people playing this "No Commission" Baccarat instead of the regular game. Sounded like a good deal at first—no 5% commission on banker wins? Sweet, right? But something felt off.

I started paying attention, and turns out, if the banker wins on a 6, you only get paid 50% instead of the full amount. That seemed weird, so I crunched the numbers later, and yeah—turns out this setup is actually worse than the traditional version in the long run. It’s basically a sneaky way for the casino to adjust the odds while making it sound like a perk.

Honestly, it’s a bit frustrating. Feels like Aussie casinos are just slapping a new label on worse odds and hoping no one notices. Has anyone else run into this? Or am I just overthinking it?
