Betting on the same number for 35 spins

I’ve been mulling over a roulette strategy and wanted to hear your thoughts. The idea is simple: bet $1 on a single number, like 17, and keep betting on that same number for up to 35 spins. The plan is to stop once the number hits and walk away with the difference.

My thinking is that the odds of that specific number hitting feel like they should increase with each spin, even though I know each spin is technically independent. If it hits within 35 spins, I’d turn a decent profit.

But here’s where I need your input: is this approach mathematically sound, or am I just falling for a gambler’s fallacy? I’d love to hear from anyone who’s tried something similar or knows the deeper odds at play here.

Betting on the same number for 35 spins is, quite frankly, an illogical strategy. The odds of a single number hitting in roulette are 1 in 37 for European roulette or 1 in 38 for American roulette, and these odds remain constant for every spin. There’s no ‘due’ number; each spin is independent.

Rather than stubbornly sticking to one number, a more effective approach would be to diversify your bets or use a strategy that accounts for bankroll management. Otherwise, you’re essentially throwing money away while hoping for a statistical miracle. I’d strongly advise reconsidering this method if you want to make the most of your playtime.
