That €84 water meter reading that arrived Monday

Sitting here on lunch break staring at it. €84 For a quarter, and I've been in this flat three years watching it climb steady as rent. No leak, no extra showers, just the council deciding my standing charge needed company.

Had a proper win last week — GoldenCrown, clean cashout, covered the week with change. Still felt smaller than it should've. Now this lands and I realise why. The wins aren't getting smaller. The world got better at taking them back.

Sounds like a leaky meter, not variance

That €84 stings, mate. Three years climbing and you're meant to just swallow it like it's normal inflation? Council's got their own version of a wagering requirement — keep paying in, never ask what the multiplier actually covers.

I've had months where the "fixed costs" hit harder than any bad beat. At least with variance I know the math. This stuff's just opaque pricing dressed up as infrastructure.

Flat's the same size, you're the same person, water's not gold. Smells like someone's margin call, not yours.
