I always preach balance and mindfulness, but I’ll admit—I lost my cool once. Last year’s Melbourne Cup, I went against my instincts and bet big on the favorite. Everything in me said the race was unpredictable (which, let’s be honest, horse racing always is), but I ignored my gut and chased what “should” have been a safe bet. Of course, the underdog surged in the final stretch, and I lost more than I’m proud of.
Lesson learned: never bet in a state of stress or doubt. Has anyone else let emotions override logic? How do you keep a clear mind when betting?
