Footy’s almost back, and I’m bloody keen for it. The AFL 2025 fixture looks solid this year, and with the AFL pre season games 2025 kicking off soon, it’s the perfect time to see how teams are shaping up. First game’s Geelong vs. Essendon at Kardinia Park on Feb 25—might head down if I can swing it. Richmond vs. Collingwood’s the next day at Princes Park, and then Fremantle wraps things up against Melbourne at Rushton Park on March 2. The AFL scores don’t mean much during the AFL preseason, but it’s still a good chance to see which players are looking sharp before Round 1.

The ANZAC Day clash between Essendon and Collingwood’s a must-watch, as always, and the Grand Final rematch between Brisbane and Collingwood should be a cracker—wouldn’t mind seeing the Pies get some payback. I’ll be keeping a close eye on the AFL scores for that one, no doubt.
Preseason’s always a bit of a mixed bag. Some teams go hard to build momentum, others just coast through to avoid injuries. I’ve learned not to get too carried away with the results—seen teams smash it in February and then fall flat once the regular AFL fixtures start. Still, it’s a good chance to see which rookies might break out and what tactics teams are experimenting with during the AFL practice matches.
