Trezor vs Ledger: Which one should you trust for gambling?

When it comes to hardware wallets, the Trezor vs. Ledger debate has been ongoing for years. Both have their strengths, but if you're serious about crypto security (which you should be), it's essential to break them down logically.

Security & Design

  • Trezor is open-source, which means security researchers can inspect its firmware. This is a massive advantage for transparency.
  • Ledger, on the other hand, uses a secure element chip but has closed-source firmware, meaning we must take their word on how it works. Their recent data breach (exposing user info) doesn’t inspire confidence.

User Experience

  • Ledger Live is more polished, offering better support for multiple assets.
  • Trezor Suite is improving, but it’s still a bit clunky compared to Ledger.

Coin Support

  • Ledger supports more coins and tokens.
  • Trezor lacks support for some assets (like XRP), which can be a dealbreaker for some.

Verdict?

If you value transparency and security above all else, go with Trezor. If you're looking for broader coin support and don’t mind trusting a company with some closed-source components, Ledger works well. However, after Ledger's "Recover" controversy (where they considered allowing seed phrase retrieval—an absolute NO for security), I wouldn't put my funds in their ecosystem.

I beg to differ with anyone who thinks convenience trumps security when dealing with self-custody. Your crypto is only as safe as the wallet holding it—so pick wisely.

What do you use, and why?
