Gambling culture across the world: what I’ve learned

One of the coolest things about traveling is seeing how different cultures approach gambling. In Bali, I met locals who bet on rooster fights with pure instinct—no strategy, no analytics, just a gut feeling. In Macau, it’s all about baccarat, and there’s this intense superstition around lucky seats.

The most fascinating? In some places, gambling is more of a social event than a solo venture. I played poker with a group in Thailand where everyone chatted and laughed the whole time, even when losing. Made me rethink how we approach gambling in the West.

Have you ever experienced gambling in a different country? Any cool traditions or surprises?
