What is the biggest hand you’ve ever laid down?

Laying down a monster hand is one of the worst feelings in gambling, especially when you start wondering if you just made the biggest mistake of your life. But the worst fold I ever made? I still think about it.

A few years ago, I was playing $25/50 No-Limit Hold’em at a private game in London. I’d been grinding all night, up about €4,500, when I got dealt pocket Kings in late position. The guy to my right, a flashy high roller who had been bluffing left and right, opened with a massive €2,000 raise.

I re-raised to €6,500, thinking I’d either take it down or at least isolate him. Instead, he shoved all-in for €22,000 total. Everyone else folded, and now it was just me, staring at my stack, trying to figure out whether he had Aces or was just making a move.

Normally, I’d snap-call, but something about the way he did it… too confident, too smooth. I’d seen him make crazy plays all night, but not like this. My gut told me it was AA, so after a full minute of agony, I folded KK face-up.

He grinned, tossed his AK offsuit onto the table, and raked in the pot. I would’ve won a €50K pot. I felt sick. The whole table went nuts. Some guy even filmed it. Worst fold of my life.

Now, I always wonder—was I disciplined, or just a coward? What’s the biggest hand you’ve ever folded that still haunts you?
