Hit or miss with online pokies – is it just me?

I swear, some nights I feel like the queen of the reels, and other times, it’s like the casino gods are laughing at me. Anyone else feel this way?

I’ve been playing Big Bass Bonanza and Gates of Olympus lately—two absolute classics here in Australia. The other night, after a long day chasing the kids around the house (seriously, you don’t need a gym membership when you have a 7-year-old and a 5-year-old), I sat down with a cup of chamomile tea, ready to unwind with some pokies.

Started off strong—first few spins, boom, decent wins. I was already picturing that extra beach holiday we’ve been dreaming of (Byron Bay, I see you). But then, like clockwork, the cold streak hit. 50 spins, nothing. 100 spins, barely a blink. By the time I tapped out, I was convinced the game had a personal vendetta against me.

I don’t go crazy with bets—I keep it small and play for fun—but there’s something so frustrating about getting lured in with a couple of nice wins only to hit an ice-cold losing streak. Does anyone have a go-to strategy for knowing when to walk away, or is it just the nature of the beast?

Also, curious—what’s your most ‘out of nowhere’ big win? Give me some hope that my next session won’t be another bankroll graveyard!
