Tournaments You Gotta Watch!

If you’re into esports like I am, there are a few tournaments that are just must-watch every year. The International (Dota 2) is an absolute beast with its crazy prize pools and nail-biting matches, the stakes are insane, and the energy is just wild. Then there’s Worlds for League of Legends, where the best of the best face off in a global showdown that’s like the Super Bowl of esports. Finally, you’ve got the CS Majors, where the crowd vibe and the level of play are next level. My advice? Mark your calendar, follow the streams, and join watch parties, the hype and the community make it all even better!
I’ll leave you some details:

Dota 2’s The International (TI):
Timing: Typically held in October. Dates can vary slightly, but it’s almost always in the early or mid part of the month.

Location: Changes yearly, but often in major cities with big arenas for the crowds.

League of Legends World Championship (Worlds):
Timing: Usually spans from September to early November, covering about a month with group stages, quarterfinals, semis, and finals.

Location: Also moves around globally, with each year in a different region or country.

CS Majors:
Timing: There are usually two Majors per year, typically in May and November. Exact dates shift based on the tournament organizers.

Location: Held in different cities worldwide, with iconic venues chosen to host the intense finals.

TI, Worlds, and the CS Majors are top picks! The variety in games is great too – each one brings a totally different crowd and vibe. Do you watch any smaller tournaments? I enjoy finding new talent

Smaller tournaments? Meh, they just don’t bring the same hype. If I’m watching, I want top-tier players, not randoms who might not even make it big. Not worth the time.

LoL Worlds for sure! Riot really knows how to put on a show, and the finals always deliver. And the skins they release are usually pretty sick too.

DreamHack Open and LCS Proving Grounds are great smaller tournaments! You get to see up-and-coming talent before they hit the main stage.

I think Worlds has TI beat when it comes to international participation. League of Legends has pro leagues in every major region, making Worlds feel more like a true global championship. Dota 2 feels a bit more niche in comparison.

Eh, if by 'global' you mean every region sending the same few teams each year. TI’s still where the real intensity’s at, not just a popularity contest.

That’s kind of close-minded mate🖕. The so-called ‘randoms’ are often working twice as hard to prove themselves. They may not have the fancy stadium or giant prize pool, but you’d be surprised how exciting smaller games get. You are missing out a lot

Dota is A LOT better but not even Valve cares about the game. If Valve would invest as much into Dota as Riot does into League it would probably be the most played game. Its Sub-Games Artifact and Underlords failed miserably. Not because they had no potential, but because Valve was too lazy and greedy to fix them so they just abandoned them.

Yawn. Working twice as hard for half the skill doesn’t make it exciting. I’ll stick with the pros who actually bring the heat, thanks. 🤤, and fantastic language, you don't even know me

Sad but true. Valve treats Dota like an afterthought. If they put half the effort Riot does into League, Dota would dominate.

Yeah I feel the same. Big leagues are big and that's why they are attractive and popular. DM me if you want me to recommend some players to follow
I would love to have some player names to follow as well! I know a lot but is good to know more!
